Description
OEM Back-up Camera adapter harness for TOYOTA Prius/Camry/Corolla/Yaris and SCION FRS/tC/xB/xD and Subaru BRZ/WRX(with navigation)***Installs with no wire splicing and no soldering. Everything just plugs in
***
This harness is the simplest and cheapest way to install an aftermarket backup camera in your Scion, Toyota, or Subaru. Installation is simple and clean and does not require cutting wires. On most vehicles, it is not even necessary to splice into a wire. If your vehicle does not have the reverse trigger wire connected to the head unit(most already have this wire connected), it will be necessary to splice one end of this wire using the included pin and wire.
This harness uses a 6-volt relay to provide 12-volts to any standard backup camera.
What's included:
-1 backup camera adapter harness with Relay
-1 fused 12V power harness
-1 reverse trigger wire with splice connector(not needed in all cases)
-Splice connectors for connection of the reverse trigger wire and the backup camera power wire
This harness will only work on vehicles with the OEM touch screen head unit.
If you are trying to connect an OEM backup camera to an aftermarket headunit, an adapter harness is available. Please contact us.
Installation:
It is strongly recommended that you test the camera and wiring prior to installing the camera in a permanent location.
-Verify that the vehicle is off.
-Carefully remove the plastic cover around the head unit and unscrew/unbolt as appropriate.
-Slide the unit out and Unplug the 16-pin connector and the 10-pin connector from the back of the OEM head unit.
-If not already done, Connect the 2-pin connectors on the AutoHarnessHouse.com adapter harnesses to connect them together.
-Plug in the 16-pin connector and 10-pin connectors from the adapter harness into the vehicle harness and into the back of the headunit(The 16-pin connector from the car harness will not be plugged into anything)
-Connect a backup camera(not included) to the adapter harness and power it with the red lead on the adapter harness.
The camera MUST be powered with the red lead on the adapter harness.
Powering the camera via the reverse lights will not work for this application.
-If needed, Connect the reverse wire to the back of the unit and to the reverse trigger.
The provided pin will go into the 28-pin connector.
See the tutorial listed
here
(If you don't know if you need to do this, I recommend skipping this step initially. If it doesn't work, come back to it)
-Ground the camera's ground lead to something metal on the car and test it by starting the car and shifting in and out of reverse.
-Install the camera permanently and install the headunit/covers
-Enjoy the flexibility and safety of a backup camera for a fraction of the cost of a dealer provided unit.
